Fine-Tuning Our Process: A Commitment to Your Listening Experience

At Vinyl Legend, we believe that the ritual of playing a record should be perfect every time. From the moment you pull the sleeve from the shelf to the second the needle drops, quality is our priority.

We recently upgraded our cleaning lab to include industrial-grade ultrasonic technology. However, we discovered that the cleaning solution we were using was not performing to our standards. Rather than evaporating cleanly or lifting dirt away, the solution was reacting with deep-seated dust to create a soft residue that remained trapped in the grooves.

While the ultrasonic cleaner was doing its job of loosening the dirt, the specific liquid formula wasn’t allowing that "gunk" to be fully flushed out.

Our New Cleaning Protocol We have officially retired that solution and overhauled our preparation process this week:

• The Big Fudge Method: We have returned to a high-purity mix of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol. This classic, effective combination ensures that dirt is dissolved and wiped away without leaving any film behind.

• Double-Wash System: Every record now receives a primary wash in our spin-clean system, followed by a meticulous manual clean with a fresh solution and a high-grade microfiber cloth.

• Refined Ultrasonic Use: We still use our ultrasonic cleaner for deep-cleans, but it is now paired exclusively with a residue-free rinse to ensure the grooves are bone-dry and spotless.

A Quick Fix for Recent Purchases If you bought a record recently and notice your needle collecting dust, don’t worry—the record isn't damaged. The "gunk" is just loosened residue. A simple wipe with a microfiber cloth and a standard cleaning solution (or a quick rinse in a spin-disk system) will clear it right out, leaving you with the crisp, audiophile sound you expect from us.
